Weight concept or piece concept?

Air Canada uses the piece concept: your allowance is counted in bags (pieces), and each piece has its own weight and size limit. Two lighter bags are not automatically the same as one heavier bag — check the per-piece limit in the table below.

In plain terms

Reading the table from the cheapest fare up: with Economy Basic (North America and Sun routes, tickets from January 3, 2025) you can check 1st checked bag $35 + tax; bags checked at the gate $65 + tax; with Economy Comfort (worldwide, tickets from January 3, 2025) you can check Two complimentary checked bags; with Economy standard allowance (all fares) you can check Max 158 cm / 62 in total linear dimensions and max 23 kg / 50 lb per bag; free allowance depends on destination and fare - exact allowance and extra-bag fees shown in Air Canada's baggage calculator; with Business Class you can check Up to 3 bags, max 158 cm / 62 in and max 32 kg / 70 lb per bag.
